Umonit was an alert driven, cloud-based security monitoring startup. The system utilized pre-existing web cameras to give customers a live stream of their home on the web and smart devices. We’ve built a technology that allows any web camera to detect motion and send push notifications, SMS, email or an automated call when it detects an event. If motion is detected, an instant live feed is streamed to customers’ smart phones where they can decide to call the proper authorities with our built in speed dial, or dismiss the notification as a false alarm. The application also saves video footage of each event to our cloud service in case our customers desire to view the footage in the future. The Umonit system is easy to use and can be installed by one click on any web camera enabled device, be it a PC, laptop, gaming console or smart TV. There were 160 million+ such device sold last year in the US alone.
