A sushi bar without salmon is like Buda without Pest. So one can imagine the predicament we faced when a full half of the menu was declared unavailable upon our arrival. Should we get up and leave? Should we buy some raw salmon at the grocery store that was literally across the street and ask them to generate sushi with it? Nevertheless, we maintained our naïve optimism and ordered assorted Maki rolls. And some water of course, because the sodium content of soy sauce is enough to turn the Danube into the Dead Sea. Much to our dismay, there was not enough life-sustaining liquid for our whole table. Only 3 small bottles of still water for 4 thirsty sushi-goers. The death match for adequate hydration was on. After a surprise wet carrot salad appetizer, our sushi rolls arrived. To be honest, they were quite alright, considering the total lack of ingredients undoubtedly facing the poor sushi chef. Interestingly, there WAS a salmon roll. But it was…smoked salmon. Just as people with no bladder control do not belong anywhere near a Hungarian bath, smoked salmon does not belong anywhere near a sushi restaurant. Overall, I would probably go back to this place in the event that I really needed sushi and happened to be standing directly outside the restaurant. In any other scenario, I would recommend somewhere else.
