Great to hear that the mill is a success. We spent winter 2009 / 2010 on our boat Aquarelle in Rackeve. I helped with the building of the mill. We are now in Amersfoort Netherlands for this winter. Best wishes to all our friends in Rackeve Mike and Rosaleen Miller

A working replica of the original ship mill which was damaged by ice and sank in 1968. The metal mill parts were recovered and the boat mill reconstructed by 2010. Flour and bran from the on board mills are for sale in the ship or at the riverside markets on Wednesday or weekends.

The boat mill of Rackeve is a fascinating small museum in Rackeve town, some 50 km from Budapest. The museum presents a reconstruction of a mill boat which sank in 1968. The reconstruction took part between 2007 and 2010 and was financed partly by the municipality, but mostly crowdfunded. There is a volunteering community around the project, and on the weekend they are happy to demonstrate to you how the mill operates and explains in detail the operational process. Some 30 minutes would be enough for the museum. The entrance fee is 500 huf (1.5 euro). They have visitors from all around the world. There are booklets with information in Hungarian, English, and German. Great place to visit with children.
