Nagymaros, Hungary
N/A
The trail starts from Nagymaros. Just follow the yellow stripe/cave lime sign. Nice place with great view. Overcrowded during weekends. Mountain shoes are required. I saw a lot of badly equipped people falling of their feet because of the slippery terrain. There is also the possibility to hike above the caves, that's the most trickiest part. The caves themselves are noting spectacular. Did not se any wildlife. Suitable for kids 6 .

It was great! The entire hike was very good, the view was extraordinary, and the caves themselves were beautiful. I can recommend it to everybody!
Very well marked, no people on the forest roads, saw many many deers and wild pigs be aware :)
great view
Beautiful autumn.
Nice hike, great view on Danube, slipping track if rain, snow or freeze
Check the wheather forecast before you go there, avoid rainy wheather.
Remete Barlang, or Hermit Cave, is in the Börzsöny mountains, between Nagymaros and Zebegény. This natural cave was expanded in the XI century by Basilian monks, there who used to use it up until the Ottoman era. There there is one of the most spectacular views in Hungary, which overlooks the Danube Bend, and Visegrad Mountains. The best way to get to the caves is by taking a hike from either Nagymaros or Zebegény. I highly recommend this easy, but spectacular, breathtaking mountainous trip that’s only 3 or 4 km.
