A great place to visit on a rainy or any day for that matter. Their regular exhibits are excellent and their temporary exhibits are outstanding. We hope that the museum opens soon and we're looking forward to a long visit.

really a wonderful museum. the ancient part is my favorite, unfortunately they're on the -1 floor so I had to take a quick look within 30minutes. but I'd say it's the best museum in Budapest! the special exhibition is also worth seeing and very friendly and helpful staff

When I was at this wonderful building, there was an Ancient Egyptian exhibition.

This is the second must see place in Budapest after the Parliament. The permanent collection is really big. The building is magnificent. Also if you catch Michelangelo - get the audio guide. The audio is good for the permanent but for Michelangelo is much needed and really adds to the exhibition. The museum staff are friendly and helpful. The museum cafe is really nice place. You might need a whole day to see everything.

Awesome, if a little overwhelming, collection of pieces, housed in a stunning building. Great price for permanent and temporary exhibition combined ticket.

A true gem in Central Europe! I visited during the Dutch artist exhibition of Van Dyck and Rubens. The guide was knowledgeable, welcoming, and extremely considerate with the flow. She ensured that everyone was able to hear, engage, and take their time in observing and admiring each painting. A catered event was hosted at the museum, and was highly organized. Happy to visit again soon!

This impressive Hungarian art museum was built by the plans of Albert Schickedanz and Fülöp Herzog in an eclectic-neoclassical style, between 1900 and 1906. The museum's collection is made up of international art (other than Hungarian), including all periods of European art, and comprises more than 100,000 pieces. The Museum's collection is made up of six departments: Egyptian, Antique, Old sculpture gallery, Old master paintings gallery, Modern collection and Graphics collection. Definitely recommended! I suggest though to take your time, as it is quite a vast museum and there’s a lot of different things worth dwelling on. For a proper tour at the museum, I would recommend at list two and a half hours. Enjoy!
