There seems to be a pattern of Hertz charging outrageous amounts of money for “lower front” area scratches based on other reviewers. We got charged nearly 300 for a “scratch” that Hertz claimed was on the lower front bumper. When I requested a photo, all they sent is a blurry photo from 3-5 steps away from the car. Embarrassing for them since I also have a photo from up close of every side of the vehicle that I took once I returned the car that doesn’t show anything. Please avoid this company at all costs or if you have to use them, at least make sure to document the state of the car when you return it so that they can’t continue scamming people.
Similar to another client, we have been charged for scratches \u003cunder\u003e the car that they cannot prove were not existent previously (even though the person at check-in assured us that they have before photos and they will provide them). Somehow the person checking out the car at checkin went almost immediately to look for those scratches and spent much less time looking at the rest of the body of the car. 225Euros for a couple of small scratches UNDER the car!!! It's outrageous! Will never use Hertz Budapest again!
Hertz was excellent ! I hired a family car - Ford Focus. I got what I ordered The car was lovely, and was comfortable for 4 adults. Very friendly and helpful stuff. They did not try to oversell me additional insurances. P Everything was great and uncomplicated. Pick up and drop off were straight forward. Good experience. I would highly recommend this Hertz in Bucharest airport.
Avoid this company at all costs. They have a knack for finding 'scratches' under the front bumper they claim were done by you but don't provide evidence of the car's previous condition. Then they proceed to charge you 300 for something they won't even fix. You should literally book with ANYONE else at Budapest airport
Really bad experience (Feb 2020) - avoid Hertz in Budapest! It is not worth paying the premium compared to the much cheaper competition at BUD. There seems to be a recent change in management, had good experience in the past. Now they are trying to earn extra money with charging for non-existing/previously existing scratches, claiming that they are new. Got charged extra without notification, just found it on my credit card statement. Real scam.
Nice, clean cars and good service. No \damaged car scams\ . Got a great car upgrade deal on the pickup date. Dont try saving money on \cheap\ rental companies. Its a lot of scammer out there..
