Love the Szechenyi bath! Went during March, one of big baths were under construction. Wasn’t too packed since we went low tourist season. Felt relaxing. Go at night time, it’s pretty with the lights. Buy tickets, go down stairs and rent a towel then back up to your dressing room/locker. Rent a room for the extra money, worth it to have your own space! Many pools, different temps, pretty clean.

We spend two evenings there. And it was an amazing time. Pleasant water, wonderful saunas (by the way, more than 10 different saunas you can try for free). There are not as many people on weekdays as on weekends. And one point, bring a pair of slippers with you or buy one in the city, because it cost there almost as much as an entrée ticket.

Excellent service. Organization and signage are good. The staff is very nice and helpful. Would have given 5 stars because I really like the baths, but they are waaaay too crowded and can sometimes feel chaotic. Although flip flops are mandatory, some people don't wear them, compromising everyone's hygiene - that's unacceptable. The swimming cap rule is enforced in the swimming pool, so should this rule. People should also shower before entering the baths. There should be quiet sections, as the acoustics in the indoor sections amplify sounds, making them noisy. It's recommended to take at least one cabin to store things and change. Bring your own towel, bathrobe, swimming cap and suit, and flip flops - all set.

Edit: Review for the subway service (not the bath which I reviewed favourably). Just awful. Crazed middle-aged ticket officer woman poorly communicating, tutting, rolling her eyes. Budapest sort your transport staff out, unless this is a reflection of your people.

Overcrowded and not at all relaxing plus very overpriced especially in relation to the rest of the city. It's a nice idea to visit a thermal pool, but I would choose somewhere cheaper and less crowded if I went again.
