The term “coach” comes from sports – maybe because even world-class athletes have a coach too. Not because they aren’t successful, but because the coach is there to help them to get even better. Still, I would like to use another analogy for a coach’s role: a compass. It provides certainty during your journey and helps when you get stuck, yet it is essentially you who must make the journey yourself. Coaching is the process between the coach and the client. Deep Coaching is one method (style) of many which truly resonates with me. Deep Coaching is not centered around a single problem or situation but the client itself. The goal is to achieve a better understanding of the inner workings and its obstacles, which eventually lead to self-improvement and problem solving (if there were any). This process is similar to deep sea diving where exploring darkness might be scary at first but it holds wonderful treasures. It is important to note though that Deep Coaching is neither psychological therapy nor life counseling. These differ significantly in methodology and general approach. It is also worth mentioning that some coaches differentiate between “life coaching” (private life related coaching) and “business coaching” (business related coaching). In the world of Deep Coaching this distinction has no meaning, as I work with the person as a whole not with a specific problem or situation. I'm happy to work with inviduals, couples or companies, doing one-on-one or team sessions.
