All the negative reviews made me and my gf take the underground rail which was EASY! Buy ticket at the machine use the map and google then validate ticker get on train! You can walk everywhere but she was tired one night so we took the tram. Do not use these companies the only way they will learn is when they feel the pinch in the wallet !

Driver of car licensed EDC-212 charged us 5000 forints from west end shopping centre to Podmaniczky u. 12, and refused to give a receipt. Massively over priced, only in the car 2 minutes. If it wasn't for a dinner reservation, I would have stayed and argued.
Our ride was 3350 total. We handed him 5000. He fiddled around with it and switched the 5000 to 500. Smiled and said, sorry you gave me 500 :) we didnt question him, but he scammed us a full 4500, and then made us pay 3350 for ride. Please! Do not trust THE TAXI DRIVERS. THEY WILL SMILE :) AND SCAM YOU!!!!! I'm sure Karma will get him tho :)
Good evening! My name is javier! We have been cheated in one of your taxis. We have done a ride of 8 minutes and the taxi driver asked us for nearly 6.000 hu whereas the same ride before was 1.800! We are really disappointed about the service that you provide; and we really thought that this country was trustworthy! The plate number of the taxi is EDF-015
We had an awful experience with Budapest Taxi. The taxi driver asked for 15000 HUF when we normally had to pay only 3000 HUF (!). The driver fiddled with his taxi meter. Normally the taxi meter goes up by 10 HUF, with him it raised with 200 HUF every few seconds. We immediately knew he was cheating on us. When we wanted to go out of the taxi, we offered to pay a correct price (even more than that), what he obviously didn’t accept. He even got violent and smashed the taxi door a couple of times against the leg of my friend. I hope karma is going to get him. Whatever happens: don’t go with Budapest Taxi, especially not with the taxi with number plate EDE-708!
I would like to say that by and large the yellow taxi in Budapest are good well maintained and the drivers are good they go by the meter in the daytime but night time beware they cheat the tourist adhoc asking any amount for short distance.we took a taxi from dock 11 to our hotel Gellert a run of 10mts and paid 4000huf.authorities should look into this problem so the tourists don't get cheated...
Had to pay 6000 HUF for a ride of 3 km once. Clients are entitled to pay by card, but I have never been able to do so. I recommend you to use Taxify instead.
Always have cash with you as I asked specifically on the phone if card was accepted which it was. Luckily I had the right amount of cash on pocket and was still able to pay. Not very reliable. However, they arrived in 6 minutes after calling and got us to the airport ASAP which was a big saver as we were running late for our flight.
