Really awesome little place. Stairs are steep and you have to keep you head down upstairs, but it all doesn't matter, cause the coffee is excellent, along with the delicious, traditional purple cake and the helpful and knowledgeable barista. It is worth a try and we will be back to try the syphon!

They are very kind, they dont speak hungarian, but try to figure it out what the coustumers want. - my english is horrible but I always give what I want and how I want! Their coffee brand is special. Little bit sour but its good. I like this lovely homey place.

Highly recommended CoffeeHouse when you visit Budapest. I think tastes better than most of the Starbucks coffee in NYC or in any other city because the coffee they serve always depends how experienced the barista in that store. At Barako they use Arabica which they source from the Philippines. This is the only place where I do not need to use any sugar for my coffee because it is very smooth, silky and has nice flavor. It is strong without giving me the jitters after having a cup. The owners are Ryan and his wife who are very knowledgeable, hospitable, making sure everybody feels welcomed and leaving with a great experience.

To be honest, I don’t like writing negative reviews for small local businesses. However my experience with this cafe was rather unpleasant. The V60 was made using really dark roasted beans, which are not really suitable for pour over. Latte was really, really average. Also, no possibility to pay by card. Barista did not offer to take the coffees to our table, so I had to wait 10 minutes at the counter. The cakes displayed on other’s pictures were not available at all.

Friendly baristas and incredible coffee. Would even consider moving to Buda to be closer to this place!
