While I didn't expect much because European Japanese restaurants are always "okay", Kanpai IZAKAYA raised the bar a lot for me. The food was beyond excellent, plentiful and delicious. They have a wide variety of authentic Japanese dishes. The interior design is very spacious, comfortable and modern, adding to the excellent dining experience. The staff was friendly and even funny at times, and spoke fluent English. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Budapest who loves Japanese food.

This is by far the best Japanese restaurant that I have tried at Budapest. The fish is fresh and the rice is just right. I have tried a few other Japanese restaurants in Budapest of the same price range but they don't taste authentic. So if you are craving for some good Japanese food in Budapest, just come here, you will not be disappointed.
Surprisingly good Japanese food in Budapest. Hungarian chef seems to know what he is doing. Limited selection of sushi, as well as many other Japanese foods. Good prices. Definitely worth a try.
The prices were bit on the expensive side, but the food was superb! We had some sushi and I took "japanese home made pizzas" which were some kind of hybrid between a pie and a pizza, but they were delicious. One star comes off because our foods arrived 15 minutes apart, I was starting to think they forgot my order.
While it certainly is not cheap, the sushi is really well done. The waiters/waitresses are very kind and helpful. Overall a great sit down restaurant.
Good quality of food and nice Japanese decoration. Good sushi and Japanese beers. A little bit expensive, but it deserves it.
