Beautiful building with lovely gardens surrounding it. We visited a few weekends ago to go and see the World Press Photo exhibition, which shows the best journalistic photographs taken over the last year. The photos were taken in several different countries all around the globe and gave a fascinating insight into the cultural landscapes and socioeconomic plights faced by people in countries I knew very little about. The information that accompanied the photos was detailed and was really helpful in providing context for the images. A fascinating exhibition. We had a great day out and after we’d seen the photos, we enjoyed our lunch in the gardens as the weather was lovely.

a very beautiful place that offers a lot to be seen. The exhibits often change and there are a variety of beautiful things. This museum tells the history of Hungary really well and the museum also offers audio guides for people who would like it. There are amazing painting and sculptures.
I thought it will be little bit better and will more things to see. But there are a lot of interesting exhibits. I liked how they showed rooms in the old days and everyday objects looked like. Some showcases were not highlighted, I don't know why, maybe they had some malfunctions.
Very uncomfortable experience, travelling long way and been to there no later than 5 pm, but was be told by an indifferently ticket point worker that ‘we will closed after one hour and will not sell you a ticket, coming tomorrow.’ The interesting thing is, as this museum’s own introduction, the ticket point is closed at 17.30 pm. We need to moderate our plan because of this kind of misleading and dishonest behaviour, disappointed. If your ticket point is closed at 17.00, please post it straightforward!
First visit to this wonderful museum of Hungarian History. The building itself like many in Budapest is reason enough to visit. Stunning frescoes and architectural details that have been beautifully and carefully maintained. We spent about 5 hours here which was not long enough as we all enjoyed going through most of the sections in great detail. From the Hungarian Stone Age right up until the 90's the museum has interesting and well displayed artifacts with many detailed explanations. One thing I've noticed in many Hungarian museums is a lack of explanations of materials used in various items. For instance what type of wood, leather, gut, feathers etc were used in the construction of a hunting bow? Or what type of material was the mannequins peasant dress made from? Cotton, Wool, Hemp etc? I really enjoyed my visit here and will probably come again next time I'm in Budapest.
I didn't feel so crazy about the exhibitions in the museum - especially modern history was very condensed with very little explanations. But the park around is magnificent! You're allowed to lay on the grass, run around, play football,... do whatever. it's very much kid-friendly, there's even this lovely new playground that made me want to be 5 again.
It was the first visit to me for a wonderful museum in Budapest. We spent about 3 hours here which was not long enough as we all enjoyed going through most of the sections in great detail. You will need part of the day to discover all the history of Hungary and more interesting exhibits. Lots on Hungary's history and culture, stories, formal dresses, weapons, and heroes participate in the revolution Hungary in 1848. Most written information is also available in English. will leave you to enjoy some photos of the amazing museum.
Beautiful museum and gives a good understandable insight into Hungarian history. Recommended
