After reading many negative reviews I was a bit hesitant visiting Coxx. The staff were very friendly and music was good with a nice crowd. This is a men only gay bar. So the lady who made a negative review and complained that they wouldn't let her in, that is the reason. I think some of the negative reviews are from people who do not understand the entrance policy and how paying for drinks works. You get a ticket upon entering which is a receipt for your coat check. The cost of drinks when ordered at the bar are added to the ticket. So you don't actually pay for your drinks when you are ordering them. At the end of the evening when you want to leave , you hand your ticket into the bar and they add up the total cost of all your drinks. You then pay for your drinks and then go upstairs to collect your coat when you leave. It is vital you do not lose the ticket! This is because it is the only record of the drinks that you have had and hence if you lose the ticket then you have to pay a penalty of about 35. That only seems fair since the bar would lose out as there is no record of the drinks you had. Yes it's quite an unusual drinks policy but once you understand the concept it is not difficult. Would I recommend this place. Yes. Will come back again.
I have seen many negative feedbacks with i had decided to go here. To be honest not in weekend was Wednesday night bit quite and nothing unusual. I got in had the paper from the doorman told me I have to spend minimum 1000 huh and voala. I spent more than 1000 huh I left without any problems. The barman was ok, but I didn’t go to explore the place. Just at the bat. I gave 4* for the price. Bit expensive
A bouncer literally pushed me down the stairs here before and I sprained my ankle. Stay away!
Quite a long shot - I met a hot, super cute medical student from New York in Vienna last Saturday (22/02), on his way to Budapest. Being a fool, I didn't ask for his contact details... Fairly priced and there a some hot guys, especially in the weekend. (I'll update this soon as not to litter their reviews with my hopeless quest ;))
I also give this place negative five stars! What a horrible experience! It’s the worst service attitude I have ever seen in the world! On 10:00 PM I took my friend went there. no any guests. I explained to the bartender that my friend can’t speak English. So I had to bring my friend down stairs buy a drink as they required. And then I quickly upstairs very soon.Suddenly a doorman like a gangster appeared to stop me very rudely and shouted at me to pay 1000 Ft! I told the doorman my friend already buy their drinks and I had explained to the bartender before . Then the bartender upstairs said it’s not his fault. As a foreigner we already explained before but they still only have money in their eyes. How pity on them. I can’t believe it could be happened in Europe! It seems they don’t know at all how to earn the pink economy in a civilized way. My friend also got very angry. We paid the Red Bull for 1300 ft and leave the bar forever!
I thought we were having a good time but someone stole our ticket, we ended up paying the triple because we didn't have the ticket with ourselves. Be careful because you can find very bad people in there. And when we paid the fine to finally leave, the manager laughed at us. Im very sad because this makes the LGBT community looks bad. Don't go guys and save yourself a bad experience.
Really bad experience. I did read all the reviews and till the end I was thinking they reviews were dishonest but they tried to steal money as the exchange was 25 euro and they asked for 38. Once I noticed it they asked for 28 at the end. Ps: I had to talk to the owner because at the bar nobody was talking to me nomore (like que*r mafia) after this and I wasn't able to get the exit receive. Workers are like are not working there. The lady at the bar is very hysteric. Costumers are not a nice type of men. Never again.
